Lord Steffon Seaworth of is the Lord of Fireheart and current head of House Seaworth. Born in 423 as the only son of Stannis Seaworth, heir of Fireheart, and his wife Shella Waxley, he took over as Lord in 332 at the age of 9 when his grandfather and father were killed by Warsmiths during the Second Hammer Uprising. A handsome, charming and bright young man, Lord Steffon is a remarkable administrator as well as being both charismatic and popular.

Appearance and Character[]

Lord Steffon is widely regarded as a good looking and attractive young man. He keeps his black hair fairly short. He has dark brown eyes and a well chiseled face, with traces of facial hair growing in. He often dresses nicely but not lavishly, and keeps well groomed.

Steffon often has a smile on his face, and is known for being an upbeat and outgoing person. He is very amicable and gregarious, known for being able to make friends. He is popular with the ladies, and uses his looks and his silver tongue to make friends. He is honest and open, and is well respected by those he meets for being a trustworthy man who keeps his promises.

However, behind his friendly and outgoing personality, he has a shrewd and organized mind ideal for running affairs of state. He is very intelligent and talented when in comes to matters of money, infrastructure, and state, and is very diligent in carrying out the administration of his lands. Having a good grasp of economics, he knows how to make the most value of what is given to him.

Besides his generally affable and upbeat personality, Lord Steffon does have a darker side. He has a deep seated hated of the Faith of the Seven after they slaughtered many members of his family during the Second Hammer Uprising. However, he gets along with fine with many members of the Faith of the Seven, only taking issue with zealots or Faith authorities. If angered, he can become furious and extract revenge. But he does not extend his revenge to those who have not wronged him.

History[]

Early Years and Childhood (423-432)[]

Steffon was born in 423 to Stannis Seaworth and his wife Shella Waxley. His grandfather, Lord Erdic Seaworth, was the Lord of Fireheart, and Stannis was his only son and heir, so Steffon was second in line to inherit Fireheart. He was a healthy young boy, but his parents would not have any more children, leaving him an only child.

As he grew up, he was an active boy, but also bright and curious as well. He learned to read at a very young age, and asked many questions to his family and to the Maester and the Red Priest in his court. He learned about his House's history, about how Davos went from a smuggler to the most trusted adviser of King Stannis Baratheon, who gave the family choice lands and advancement due to their merit- a favor the family had not forgotten. He learned how Azhor Azzai reborn, Stannis Baratheon, vanished into the snows of the North to end the second Long Night.

Other Houses had not forgot it either. House Seaworth was always looked down upon by the more established houses, although over a hundred years had passed, old views had not died. The family was rather isolated from other nobility as he was growing up, this was also because the main branch of the family worshiped R'hllor, something taboo. His distant cousins still worshiped the Faith of the Seven, but he grew up learning about the Lord of Light and his power. He grew to come to believe in the Lord of Light, though he never saw any reason why the two faiths couldn't get along, like they did in the Court of Fireheart.

From a young age, he proved very talkative, and was not either shy or reserved. He proved quite skilled at his studies as well, especially at numbers. He also was very neat and organized, unusual for boys his age. But unlike boys of his age, he was no fighter. He took no interest in the sword or warfare, being content with his books and his talking. Despite his father's insistence that he study combat, he would do poorly at swordplay.

As he grew, he would continue to mature, and soon it was clear that the boy would be both attractive and gregarious. His good looks continued to develop as he grew older. Besides which, he began taking a clear interest in the affairs of state, asking his grandfather about running Fireheart. He would visit the peasants in the fields, visit the town and marketplaces, seeing how they worked. He haggled and talked with merchants, applying his knowledge of economics. Although he was no fighter, he proved to be quite thrifty and organized; and was looking to prove an able heir to Fireheart when the time came.

The Second Hammer Uprising (432-435)[]

However, when the Second Hammer Uprising began in 432, it would have a profound impact on Steffon. The Warsmiths would spread to the region, and soon a group of Warsmiths and peasants begin terrorizing the followers of R'hllor who lived around Fireheart. Lord Erdic attempted to put an end to the Warsmith's actions, and sent his twin uncles Oswell and Osric and a group of soldiers to deal with the Warsmith raiding party. The Warsmiths ambushed them, and killed them and the Seaworth men.

They advanced to Fireheart and stormed the Keep. They went through the keep, killing any member of House Seaworth that knowingly supported R'hllor. In the massacre that followed, his father, grandfather, granduncle Renly, his cousins Devan, Argella, Matthos, the Red Priest, Loqar, and others were all brutally murdered by the Warsmith's in their desire to purge R'hllor. Even his infant cousin Marya was dragged out of her nursery and had her intestines ripped out by the Warsmiths. His distant cousin Orys, a member of the junior branch of Seaworths, managed to hide him from the slaughter.

The Warsmiths eventually left Fireheart, but the damage had been done. Steffon was the Lord of Fireheart now. Most of his living family had been brutally murdered, and the normally easy going Steffon was now burning for revenge. He would grow to hate the Faith of the Seven with a burning passion, as he blamed them for murdering his family. Ser Orys became his regent, and quickly took measures to bar the castle from future attack. The Warsmiths would continue to harass the R'hllor population, killing, raping, and looting the countryside around Fireheart. Lord Steffon offered sanction to his R'hllor subjects, and began planning for a counterattack. Under the command of Ser Orys, he ordered his men, with the addition of angry peasants with lost property or dead family, to hunt down the Warsmiths near Fireheart and to kill and seize them all.

Lord Steffon's host quickly cornered the local group of Warsmiths, who did not stand a chance against the numbers, and the Warsmiths were defeated. Any that survived were burned as sacrifices to R'hllor. However, Lord Steffon chose not to punish any who did not take part; he wanted an end to the fighting. Even the smallfolk who worshiped the seven did not blame him for his revenge, as many had been disgusted by the Massacre at Fireheart and the death of their liege Lord and many in his family, including innocent children. The uprising would continue for years, but Steffon worked hard to keep its influence away from his lands.

The Lord of Fireheart[]

Lord Steffon worked hard to rebuild. The countryside had been ravished by the Warsmiths, so he quickly got to work repairing it. It was here when his statemenship really began to show through. Under his supervision the countryside was fixed, smallfolk restored to their lands and a new time of prosperity. He became popular with the local smallfolk, who admired his skill and ability and his fair rule even at such a young age. He also loved his smallfolk, and took time to visit them and showed that he cared. He took his House Words, “Whether High or Low”, seriously, and worked to better the situation that had been damaged by the uprising.

His cousin Devan's wife was pregnant at the time of the Massacre. In 433 she would give birth to a pair of twins, who were named Orys and Jeyne. Now he had an heir of the senior line; of course there were his distant cousins of the junior line who could carry on the Seaworth name should he and Orys die without an heir. He also invited a new red priestess to court, a Stormlander by the name of Cyrenna, who had studied the Faith of the Red God in Essos. He kept Ser Orys as commander of his armies, but also in a controversial move appointed Ory's daughter Shireen as his naval commander due to her skill with ships.

During his seven years of rule he has continued to grow into manhood, and soon his good looks began to attract many ladies around him, which was helped by his popularity with the smallfolk. He has not selected a wife yet, or show interest in marriage at the time. But he has continued to work to improve Fireheart and bring prosperity both to his House and his subjects.
