Gilliane Stark is the youngest daughter of Edderion Stark with his first wife, Arya Tallhart. In Winterfell, she is oft called Gilliane 'the Golden' both for her light hair and her closeness with her father and, formerly, with her grandfather Jon II Stark, who favored her well above his other grandchildren.

Gilliane was born in Winterfell in 421 AC. She is the youngest of three daughters born to Edderion Stark and his first wife, Arya Tallhart. Gilliane is said to be the spitting image of her mother, with golden blonde hair and bright blue eyes.
In 435 AC, Gilliane was betrothed to Lord Paramount Androw Tully as a corrective gesture after House Frey exacted a grossly absurd toll upon House Stark when they came to the aid of the Riverlands during the Second Hammer Uprising. They were wed late into the year of 438 AC at Riverrun.
