Prince Daeron Targaryen is the third child borne of the marriage between Viserys Targaryen and Gwynesse Lannister. Born in 373 AC, he was never to inherit the Kingdoms, as such much of his youth was with a sword and shield in his hands. Not particularly talented with courtly behaviors, Daeron sits on the Queensguard, protecting his older sister Visaera Targaryen.

Appearance and Character[]

Daeron is a tall man, sturdily built and strong. He is Valyrian through and through, his shoulder-length hair is silver and his eyes are the color of amethysts. His figure is intimidating, few would dare to stand against the knight. His face is kind for the most part, however it would be hard to argue the man doesn't have a wrath when he becomes truly upset.

He is rather stoic for the most part, his duties require him to handle tasks for the Kings and Queens of the realm and as such he finds professionalism to be his best asset. He is often seen alongside the royals of the court as any Queensguard would be.

History[]

Early Life[]

Prince Daeron was born in the Red Keep in 373 AC, the younger brother of Princess Visaera and Prince Aemon. Shortly after his birth it was revealed his two elder siblings would be betrothed. This led many to wonder what would happen to the younger brother. However Prince Viserys always had a plan for his second son, and from a young age Daeron was trained with a sword.

There was no doubt to any who knew him that Daeron would have no issues with becoming a Kingsguard as Viserys intended, after all who better to protect the King and Queen than their younger brother?

While he of course received many of the same lessons as his elder siblings, Daeron found he did not excel at any of them besides the blade. He was always built well, even in his youth he was more athletic than his siblings.

Adolescence[]

His weapon mastery grew quickly, trained as extensively as he was. At a young age he was squired to Ser Daven Crakehall, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard for his Grandfather King Aenar I Targaryen. Not a simple squireship by any means, Daeron learned many things he didn't anticipate to learn from a squireship. Knowing things he wasn't expected to prepared him to protect the Royal family not only with blade, but with silence.

Kingsguard[]

In the year 390 AC at the age of seventeen Daeron was admitted into the Kingsguard, the youngest since Ser Loras Tyrell. He had been taught by everyone around him the importance of protecting House Targaryen, and Daeron truly took it to heart. He would do nothing to harm his family and did everything in his power to ensure that they would be safe. He has held this position since, and has been in the Kingsguard, now Queensguard, for quite literally half his life.

The War of Three Thieves[]

Though King Aenar originally was the only royal to depart for the Stepstones that was only true for but a short time. Prince Daeron was quickly dispatched to assist during the siege of Grey Gallows. While he only participated in the tail end of the war, Daeron still remembers the sight of Viserion returning home, in pain and ornery. Something that broke his heart, while he himself had never ridden a dragon he felt a bond to Viserion in his own way. She was a majestic and ancient creature, one that he would protect just as he did his grandfather.

The Tourney at Harrenhal[]

Daeron felt no inclination to participate in the events of the tourney like many of the other knights around him. He stayed to protect his ancient grandfather. Events passed by as one would expect, a death here, a scandal there. He went with his sister to investigate rumblings of Jacaerys Targaryen turning a head or two. He was ordered by his sister to open the chest inside Jace's room, the contents shocked him. He has kept the secret of what was inside that chest just as he has kept the other secrets of his family. Daeron continues to be a bastion for House Targaryen.

A Prince and his Dragon[]

Leave was granted by Visaera in late 407 to find their grandfather's dragon and bring her home. Daeron set off for Massey's Hook with his grandfather's whip and a citadel acolyte in tow. A week was spent in the dragon's shadow. Following her, feeding her, and sketching her. When Daeron finally approached the dragon to bend it to his will, Viserion still showed defiance. With a blast of fire she forever scarred the prince, yet he was not deterred. He approached with more resolve, and mounted the beast. After taming the colossus they took flight to Stonedance, for Daeron was fading fast. Upon arrival, Lord Massey set his Maester upon Daeron and tended to the burns as best he could. Daeron would live to be a true dragon rider.

Oathbreaker[]

Daeron never intended to break his oaths. He knew he would never hold the Iron Throne and more importantly he didn't want it. He saw the stress it put on his grandfather and his sister. He was more than happy to stand on the sidelines and protect the crown. However that all changed when he met Ryella Mertyns. The daughter of Lord Mertyns of the Stormlands.

Over the course of 408-418 AC, Daeron had three children with the noblewoman. While he never acknowledged any of the children he provided monetary assistance for Ryella to stay in King's Landing to raise them. Maelor was personally trained by Daeron and Rhae and Gwynesse were sent to be raised by his niece and nephew-by-law, Aelinor and Gwayne Baratheon.
